New members of the Algiers County Chamber of Commerce / Greater Munising Bay partnership – Grannie of the Hood, Lume Cannabis Co. Christmas and Upper Peninsula Trader – offer various services such as advertising, cannabis products and embroidery.

Embroidery

Bevyjean Heryman is Grannie of the Hood, a new company that provides custom embroidery and wholesale items for local organizations like shirts, patches, hats and more. Retired nurse, formerly employed by the Algiers Correctional Center, Bevyjean told us in the House that inmates were calling her “Granny of the Hood” because of the jacket she wore in school. So finding a name for her new business was a no-brainer, she said.

Cannabis

Adjacent to Kewadin Casino at Christmas, Lume Cannabis Co. opened one of its new stores (the other being in Manistique) in September. Lume is a Michigan-based cannabis company that produces its own flowers, extracts, edibles, and CBD products in-house. This ensures that the focus is on quality above all else, according to store management.

In addition, the company offers high paying jobs with full benefits to recruit and retain employees.
