Officers find 150 cannabis plants in raid on Mansfield home

A man has been arrested after officers found around 150 cannabis plants at a home in Mansfield.

Police were in Portland Street, Mansfield, when they became suspicious of a property after spotting signs of a cannabis den and a person inside.

Officers forced their way into the property and eventually found 150 plants and discovered that the electricity had been bypassed. A man was also found in the attic, according to Nottinghamshire Police.

A 30-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis following the incident, which happened shortly before 3.30am on Monday February 14.

Sergeant Adam Cooper, Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘Work continued throughout the day to seize and remove the cannabis and it is really positive for the community that it is no longer in circulation.

“Possession of controlled drugs is an offense in itself, but it can also be a sign of broader serious organized crime.

“That is why we are acting so vigorously and are committed to acting on information about this.

“A man remains in custody and our investigations into the discovery are ongoing. We will continue to urge people to come to us with information or concerns about crime in their area through 101 or by speaking to local officers directly.
