Matt Brown of CDT said, “This is a significant amount of cannabis seized by our officers and therefore this transport will make the community a safer place.

“It’s about preventing any risk of flooding and fire, and big organized criminals who set up farms and exploit vulnerable people.

“We will take action and get drugs off the road, which will prevent criminals from taking advantage of them.”

He continued, “It is vital that we find the cannabis farms as quickly as possible because no one wants to live near a potential death trap. It is thanks to the people living in the affected areas, and the proactivity of our agents, that we are able to take action to shut them down.

“If you spot any signs that cannabis is being grown near where you live and work, please let us know so we can continue to act. Any information helps residents and the work we do, so let us know and we’ll investigate.

“We want to chat with anyone who might have seen people arriving or leaving the old Argos building in the past few days and weeks.

“Any details of suspicious people or vehicles could be essential to help identify those responsible and we will act on any information received.”

A police spokesperson said: ‘If you think cannabis is being grown where you are, you can watch a video in which Matt Brown, head of our Cannabis Dismantling Team (CDT), explains some of the signs. : https://youtu.be/rc59i2dsZHM. ”

Some of the signs of a cannabis farm:

• Strange smells and sounds
• Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
• Gardening equipment brought into a property, such as plant pots, fertilizer, fans and industrial lighting.
• Windows are sealed and covered or curtains are permanently closed
• Warmth of an adjoining property
• Birds congregating on a roof in cold weather
• Individually these activities may seem trivial, but together they may indicate something more suspicious.
